In most cases after cataract surgery or clear lens extraction a single vision-fixed focus implant is placed in the eye. Recently multi focal (similar to a multi focal or varifocal lenses in spectacles) implants and accommodative implants have become available for these cases.

Crystalens is an ‘accommodative IOL’, it’s a replacement lens that works naturally with your eye muscles to give you the quality of vision you enjoyed when you were much younger. The revolutionary new design includes “hinges,” which allow the lens to move, or accommodate, to focus on objects near, far, and at all distances in-between, in a completely natural and seamless fashion.

An Accommodative ICL is an outpatient procedure that takes literally just a few minutes to perform. Once completed you can go home, and with the aid of a few exercises to get the muscles in your eye back up to speed (often the muscles become ‘lazy’ owing to a reliance on glasses or contacts) you’ll find the clarity and performance of your vision will rapidly return.

Cataracts is the term given to mistiness of the normal crystalline lens of the eye .In most cases this is part of normal aging process. Therefore people who have clear lens extraction at relatively young age ,will not require cataract surgery in the future.
